As I reflect on 2021 the day after Minnesota's first recorded tornado touchdown in December (from which we thankfully came out unscathed), there were many stressful moments and plenty of unsavory things I'd like to forget. But with this year also came the time to read over 27 books, and my most successful book release to date (In Her Father's Shadow). Not successful financially, as I released it as a freebie to get more exposure and spent way more on advertising than I would've liked, but successfully as in it's been well-received by the book community. If you're one of those who left a review for In Her Father's Shadow, THANK YOU for helping to spread the word!
As for what to expect from me for new releases in 2022, your guess is as good as mine. Aside from Woman Over the Edge coming in February, I'm unsure of what will come next. I have started writing a new novel, but I'm not sure I'm feeling it yet. I'm also playing with the idea of writing Bexley Squires #6 as she's still one of my favorite characters I've written, and I'd love to continue her story. As stressed as I've been, I'm hoping our annual trip to Florida in January will get my creative juices flowing again. Nothing seems to heal my soul better than time spent by the ocean.
In the meantime, I'm going to take a good chunk of time off in the upcoming weeks while my son is home on leave from the Coast Guard, and my daughter takes time to visit amidst break from her senior year in college. I see a lot of holiday movies, quality time reading, and spiked hot chocolate in my near future. I hope everyone reading this blog is also able to enjoy special time with loved ones over the holidays!
If you haven't entered the Goodreads contest to win a paperback ARC of my next release, Woman Over the Edge, you have until the 30th of December. Enter here. And if you're looking for last minute gift ideas for the readers in your family, both In Her Father's Shadow and Woman Over the Edge are currently just 99 cents!
Happy Holidays! 🎄🎅🏼
